 Owners Alejandro Romero, a native of Baja California Sur, Mexico, and Lissa Flemming, born in England and raised in Wisconsin, USA, have spent the last 5 years traveling between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean. In the winters you can find them paddling the Gulf of California, Mexico working with Mar Y Adventuras and Baja Expeditions. During the summers they can be found in Wisconsin's Northwoods, sea kayaking Lake Superior's Apostle Islands with Adventures in Perspective.
A word from Alex and Lissa:
Through our adventures on two unique bodies of water in two different countries, we have had many intriguing experiences. In Baja's untouched Gulf of California we have encountered diving fin whales from our kayaks, friendly gray w hales from panagas, we've paddled rugged volcanic coast lines, learned the art of tortilla making in remote fishing villages, snorkeled with dancing sea lions and surfed the waves on the Pacific coast. In the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior we've paddled red sandstone cliffs and caves, encountered eagles, bears and beavers, snorkeled the wrecks with our kayaks in tow, learned from the Native American culture on the Red Cliff Reservation, soaked in the autumn colors of Basswood Island and listened to the haunting call of the loon through the early morning mist. Two different lands. Many different perspectives.
 Silverwaves*Olas de Plata was inspired by our passion for the oceans and marine life, for the sea kayaking, for the Northwoods and for the diverse cultures of the Americas.
We work with local Mexican artisans in Taxco, Guerrero and Baja California Sur to create original kayak, canoe, Northwoods creature and whale designs. Three to four trips a year to the cobble stoned streets of Taxco, Guerrero ensure our silver's quality and purity as well as the craftsmanship of the artisans who we now call our friends. These trips also enable us to personally choose silver for our Elegance and Northwoods lines.
